A fashion sketching template functions as a two-dimensional model for sketching new fashion concepts. The template is a drawing of a figure posing so that clothes and accessories can be draw over it on a different piece of paper, and so that the original template pose is used again. You can trace over existing images to get your basic poses, so you don’t need to be an expert at drawing the human body. You do need to consider what basic concept or time period you will be working with, so you know what kind of pose will be appropriate. Go through a fashion magazine or a clothing catalog and cut out pages with the poses that you like. The poses that work best are ones where the model is standing and facing the front, with her arms and hands at her sides and not in front of her.
