Hardwood floors are a beautiful addition to one’s home. However, getting them wet can be a disaster. If left wet, hardwood floors can buckle, causing a nasty situation. There are many places that leaks could occur, and there are different ways to fix each one. Locate the leak and find out what the floor is built on, whether it be wood joists with subflooring, concrete slab or built off grade. Each situation will require a different type of repair. Look at the area where the plumbing is located in the wall adjacent to the floor is impaired. This could be in the bathroom, kitchen or laundry room. Find the return air register for the air-conditioning system, and see if there is any water in the air filter. This means that the evaporatore coils may be dirty. Use a wet/dry vacuum and a soft brush to clean the inside of the evaporator coils. Open the cabinets under the kitchen sink and bathroom vanity to see if there is any water dripping.
