How Do You Play Guitar In The Key Of D-Sharp/E-Flat?
There is the easy way and the hard way.
Hard Way: Use your five basic barre chords (C-A-G-E-D) and move them around to play your piece in Eb. The Key of Eb is:
I. Eb ii – Fm iii – Gm IV – Ab V – Bb vi – Cm VII – Ddim
Easy Way: Play in the key of E (which is an easy key to learn) and tune your guitar half a step down so your strings are Eb Ab C# Gb Bb Eb instead of EADGBE
My tuner has an option to flatten the strings a half step. Maybe yours does as well. Good luck. Have fun.
The key of E-flat (rarely known as D-sharp) is another moderately uncommon key. Many songs on rock CDs have been transposed down from E to E-flat, however, so it’s good to know this key to learn some of your favorites. Review and memorize the names of the strings. Lowest to highest, they are E-A-D-G-B-E. Lay your index finger across the sixth fret, pressing down firmly on all of the strings. Place your middle finger on the eighth fret of the D string. Place your ring finger on the eighth fret of the G string. Place your pinky on the eighth fret of the B string. Strum the chord downward, the lowest strings toward the highest. Lay your index finger firmly across all the strings on the fourth fret to begin the A-flat chord. Place your middle finger on the fifth fret of the G string.
