Before you get rid of them, consider these options for recycling your receiving blankets. Sew a few small receiving blankets together to make a larger blanket. The larger blanket can be used for swaddling when your baby is older. Cut up the receiving blankets to make homemade cloth wipes. Sew the edges so they don’t fray. Cloth wipes will save money and be gentler on your baby’s bottom. Use receiving blankets as large bibs. Drape the receiving blanket around your baby and use a hair clip or chip clip to hold it in place. Because it is much larger than the average bib, your child’s entire outfit will be protected from flying baby food. Use receiving blankets as burp rags.
