How does Mary relate to Anne of Cleves?
Mary’s quite cold towards Anne at the beginning. Again, she’s had so many punches in her life so she’s coming to the stage where she has to trust someone again, and build another relationship and it’s very difficult for her. But, I think the relationship with Anne is great. Anne has lived a very enclosed and hard life, and she comes here and she very much wants to be a friend to Mary. So their relationship is a slow start – obviously there’s the problem of religion – but it becomes quite special. Max von Sydow Cardinal von Waldburg Who do you play in THE TUDORS this season? Cardinal von Waldburg, who apparently was a great politician of his time and who was obviously against Henry VIII and was the face of the Pope at the time. I also met writer and executive producer Michael Hirst and I am very impressed with the work he has done because it’s a very clear story and it’s very good dialogue, which works really well so it has been a pleasure doing this part.
