How does Monovision Work?
Monovision is a way of providing adequate distance and near visual acuity without spectacles. With monovision, one eye, usually the dominant eye, is corrected for distance vision, and the other eye is corrected for near vision. Monovision is an effective and successful alternative to wearing glasses for the marked majority of people. Monovision works well for about 85-90% of the presbyopic population, but the remainder may have trouble adjusting to the new perceptions. Simple testing will aid in determining whether it will work for you. As all remedies for presbyopia are compromises for the problem of presbyopia, monovision may be the most versatile and acceptable one for the highly active individual or one just wanting to be glasses free for most of their seeing experiences. Monovision is great for computer distance and most print in the range of newspaper font. It will not eliminate all need for glasses. Some may need to have a pair of over the counter reading glasses or prescription
