How does the Draft Queensland Coastal Plan differ from the existing State Coastal Management Plan?
The Draft Queensland Coastal Plan includes policies that address a number of issues which are critical to managing and protecting the coast and that have not been addressed elsewhere. These include coastal hazards such as erosion, storm tide inundation and permanent inundation due to sea level rise; urban development (including urban settlement patterns) in the coastal zone; coastal-dependant development; public access to the coast; natural resource management on the coast; coastal landforms and physical coastal processes; and scenic amenity.
