How fast can I achieve the grade of 1st Dan (Black Belt)?

The minimum time it takes to be eligible to take your Black Belt is around 3 years providing you move up a grade at every grading. Once 1st Dan has been achieved it then takes 2 years to be eligible for 2nd Dan and 3 years for 3rd Dan. Black Belt is not the end of the line.
