How is AppraisalTrac technology different from e-mail based delivery systems?
A. AppraisalTrac technology uses secure sockets (SSL) via HTTP tunnelling to deliver appraisal reports in real time. All transactions are performed over a secure channel and conclude with a definitive result. E-mail, on the other hand, is neither secure nor guaranteed to be delivered. E-mail was never intended to be a data transportation protocol to facilitate electronic business transactions. Every transaction performed using AppraisalTrac technology is protected. From secure log-ins using unique userid and password, to the sending of status messages and the delivery of appraisal reports and PDF. Some systems have a secure sign on procedure but once you are logged in, transmissions are sent using un-encrypted, plain text which means that the data can be read or modified along the way. There is no guarantee that what was sent by one party was received in its original condition by the receiving party.
