How is Restylane® different from Botox®?
A. Restylane® is a natural cosmetic product that fills in wrinkles, furrows, and enhances lips. In contrast, Botox® is a drug that relaxes underlying muscles that produce frown lines, forehead wrinkles, crows feet, lip lines, chin dimpling, and neck banding. Many patients have been pleased after receiving treatment with both products. Q. How is Restylane® different from collagen? A. Restylane® is proven to deliver a longer-lasting effect than traditional bovine collagen. Bovine collagen is derived from animals, i.e. cow and requires an allergy test. Because Restylane® is non-animal-based, it can be administered without pretesting. Immediate treatment is therefore available. Another collagen product grown in human cell culture, Cosmoderm® and Cosmoplast®, are alternative fillers that also can be used immediately, as skin testing is not necessary. Q.
