How many police officers patrol the City of Renton? How many patrol the Cascade/Benson Hill neighborhood and how many would patrol Fairwood if we chose to annex to Renton?
According to Renton PD Patrol Cmdr. Dave Leibman, “We always run with a minimum of 10 officers and two Sergeants (City wide). If no one has the shift off, we have 14 officers and two Sergeants, although there are other specialty groups out (traffic, SET, DET). As far as Cascade goes, there are always two specifically assigned to the area we annexed last year.” In February, the Renton City Council projected that if Fairwood were to annex, the police department would hire an additional 26 full time employees. That would mean there would be three to four patrol officers assigned to the Fairwood area around the clock.
