Is Anti-Virus Protection important when viewing email from outside of a Hopkins Managed PC?

It is very important that the pc you are using has an anti-virus software installed and is updated routinely. If your device is managed by either HITS or JHMCIS it will be updated automatically. For pc’s, outside of HOPKINS, it is recommended that you manually update the virus definitions by running a live update on your systems Anti-Virus Protection software. Automatic updates will be installed from your local network. If you are not sure of your systems virus protection, you should contact your LAN Administrator. Until a systems administrator can assess your pc’s virus definitions, you are urged not to “open” email from an unknown source. Additionally, it is much better if you “view” an email and not “open” the mail.
