Motown refers to music released on or reminiscent of the US record label Tamla Motown. The first black-owned record company in the US, Tamla Motown was founded in Detroit in 1959 by Berry Gordy, and was important in popularizing soul music, producing artists such as the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye.

Motown is not a place, it’s an old school R&B record label. They signed artists back in the 1960’s like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross & the Supremes, Four Tops, and Gladys Knight & the Pipps. DAFORCE probably has a soulful sound that reminds you of the old school Motown R&B singers. That’s a very good thing.

Motown is also a nickname for Detroit, Michigan, due to its strong ties to the automotive industry. Mo (as in motor) town = Motown. Also known as the Motor City.

DaForce is from Montreal, so not Motown.
