Is gratuity included?
Yes the majority of our menus and cruises charge a service fee (gratuity), however on certain events the bartenders do have a tip jar out on the bar. What happens if it rains? Celebrations sails ran or shine. In the vary rare cases of severe weather conditions or upon the direction of The Coast Guard – we will remain dockside.
The gratuity to the driver is left at your discretion. We feel that you will be able to judge for yourself an appropriate gratuity. Many companies will tack on a 20% tip but the driver is not going to receive all of this anyway. They will be lucky to get even 10% of it and the company will absorb the rest. So, in the best interest of our drivers’ and clients’, we choose to operate in this fashion.
A. An automatic 18% service charge is added to the ticket price at the time of purchase. This covers crew wages, fuel, supplies and a host of other expenses. It also covers “good service”. If you feel your crew went “above and beyond the call of duty” and/or you have purchased drinks at the bar, a gratuity would be greatly appreciated, but not required.
Generally gratuity is not included in your ticket price except for San Francisco Brunch, Lunch and Discovery Lunch cruise. In addition, an automatic 18% service charge will be billed at the time of booking for groups of 6 or more in San Francisco and for groups of 10 or more in all other locations. Hornblower offers inviting dance floors and a variety of music – from the dance hits of the 40’s through today as well as a variety of jazz, standards and popular favorites. Gratuity is not included in your ticket price. An 18% gratuity based on the total ticket price and any on board purchases is recommended. There will be a suggested gratuity amount written in on your guest check for your convenience. This is approximately $8.50 per person on a Brunch Cruise and $12.50 per person on our Dinner Cruise. Please tip according to your service and overall cruise experience. However, for groups of 10 or more, an advance payment of gratuity will be added to the ticket price based on full fare.
