If you hire a baker to make a cake with the Star Trek symbol on it and you pay for the cake, then the baker must get clearance to use any symbol or even any modification of the symbol. Copyright laws are very strict. If YOU made a cake with the Star Trek symbol, that woudn’t be an issue. The issue arises when you pay for a cake with a copyrighted image. Having said that, unless you are inviting anyone connected to the Star Trek fanchise to the wedding, you could probably get away with having a Star Trek cake without getting clearance.
