Is it OK to feed cat food to dogs?
I imagine you will get some people who will tell you that they do it and have no problem, but the facts are; dogs and cats have different physiology and their digestive system and also their bodies require different kinds of nutrition. In the long run feeding cat food to a dog can cause health problems (like organ damage) and same is true for feeding dog food to a cat (dog food can cause a cat to go blind if fed long enough). I know they love the other one’s food (for some strange reason), but it is not only not good for them, but actually not safe. Cat food is formulated to be much more high fat than dog food. You’ll get one chubby puppy! Dogs and cats also have different nutritional needs. Pound for pound, dog food is also often cheaper than cat food. Every once in a while, your dog is going to get into the cat food and it’s not going to hurt him, but in the long run, he needs his own food!
