It really depends on what part of the electrical component you are talking about. Any path that needs to conduct electricity needs to be made of metal (i.e. the paths in a circuit board), while circuit boards themselves are usually made of silicon (a metalloid). Nonmetals are nonconductors, so they are usually used in areas that you want to prevent the transfer of electricity (such as plugs…who wants to get shocked?!).
