Is something similar required for an unfaithful husband?

0

When the Sotah ceremony was performed for a suspected woman, her drinking the “bitter water” was a test for both her and her lover (Talmud Sotah 27b). On the other hand, there was no comparable ceremony for a husband suspected of unfaithfulness to his wife. When the Torah was given, polygamy was allowed. In a polygamous society, adultery is a one-sided concept; it forbids relations between a married woman and any man other than her husband, but not relations between a married man and an unmarried woman. Polygamy has been forbidden rabbinically (to Ashkenazic Jews) for about 1000 years; but the Sotah ceremony was performed only in the Temple, and so has not been performed for nearly 2000 years.
