is the proper way to install a safety or safety-relief valve?
Before installing the safety valve for the boiler, the device itself must be turned off and the water drained from it. The valve is installed at the cold water inlet to the heater. The process is simple – the usual “packing” with a key for 3-4 turns using seals (fum-tape or tow, whatever you like). The second threaded end of the valve is connected to the cold water supply system. It is imperative to check the direction of the incoming water – it is marked with an arrow on the valve body. If the pressure in the water supply system is not stable, it is excessively increased, it would be better to put a water reducer before the valve. Not everyone likes the fact that water starts to leak from the valve from time to time. This is a completely normal phenomenon, saying that the device is coping with its direct task. It would be reasonable to connect the drainage pipe with a flexible hose to the sewer system. The hose should be transparent to visually assess the valve’s performance. Attempts are sometimes made to hide the valve out of sight by placing it away from the heater. This approach is also possible, but subject to two conditions: It is strictly forbidden to install shut-off devices between the valve and the boiler inlet. A long vertical section of the water supply will by itself increase the pressure across the valve, and completely unnecessary “idle” leakage can begin. In any case, there should be no more than 2 meters between the valve and the boiler. The valve can be purchased from anixusa.com. Good luck with the installation!
