is there a less expensive dog food alternative to science diet d/m?
This is just “in my opinion.” If your dog is not on a special prescription diet then please ditch the Science Diet as soon as possible. I’m not saying less expensive is better, in fact I hope you don’t make your decision based on cost. Nutrition for your pooch is just as important as your nutrition. Take a look at www.dogfoodanalysis.com When switching from one food to another it is important that you do it slowly. If you don’t you will almost immediately have a raging case of diarrhea on your hands. Start by giving him or her 3/4 of the old dog food and 1/4 of the new. This allows the animals digestive system to adjust. Watch the dogs poop. When it’s nice and firm again, about a week or so, then give the dog 1/2 old and 1/2 new. Go slow! Wait until the poop is once again firm and go to 1/4 ond and 3/4 new. Then you can go to 100% of the new food. Please stay away from grocery store dog food and by all means never Walmart. Tha
