To rely on formal reporting mechanisms may lead to a loss of understanding of such accountability and a distancing by management/board from owners. • Shareholders must have the opportunity to have face-to-face meetings with the board and senior management. In my opinion this should occur at least twice a year and apart from the AGM the other meeting/s should be less formal (ie, similar to a broker/fund manager type presentation). • Ultimately shareholders will vote with the ‘back pocket’; however, this often comes at a substantial financial cost.
