Late Fees: Why does the library charge late fees?
• The library began to charge late fees due to the large number of students keeping their books overdue for weeks, months, and sometimes even years. During these overdue periods, the book is out of circulation for anyone else who would like to read it, therefore late fees were instituted to encourage the students to responsibly turn their books in on-time.
