The Safety Guidelines, Interschool module, mandates that someone must be present who will take the responsibility for providing first aid at higher risk activities e.g. wrestling, football, field hockey, ice hockey, acrobatic cheerleading, swim meets etc. This is the minimum standard. Having said this, it would be very prudent to have the first aid providers certified in Emergency or Standard first aid for all activities that are off the students’ home school site as well as all higher risk activities. The first aid provider at a higher risk sport/activity could be an outside volunteer, or a sport convenor, or a professional first aid provider e.g., EMS etc.
