Yes there were – I saw an excellent documentary,including German film footage from the period and interviews with Blacks who lived there, 9 or 10 years ago on Channel 4 TV (a British channel). The black community in Berlin worked mainly in the entertainment industry, as dancers and musicians in Berlin’s vibrant nightclub scene.To a certain extent, they were tolerated by the Nazi regime; there was no official persecution in terms of round ups and deportations to concentration or death camps, although, without official German citizenship,blacks in Germany had no protection under the law,and at least one prominent member of the black community was beaten to death on the streets by the police,I remember from the documentary.
