The 2000 average capital cost in Rupees per Mega watt installed is about 4 crores for hydro, 5.0 crores for thermal and 5.5 crores for nuclear. Operating cost of hydro is the cheapest. However hydro station is dependent on geological formation (catchment area) and monsoon and its cost does not include, many a times, the cost of dam.
