NOAA CPC has used the 0.25 degree grids (approximately 12 x 12 mile) to report weather for many years. It is based on data from reporting weather stations, enhanced with NEXRAD and satellite cold cloud data. Multiple weather station data is weighted and interpolated by NOAA CPC to each grid.
