The Fencing of Swimming Pools Act 1987 requires all swimming pools to be fully fenced and all gates inserted in the fence line, to open away from the pool, be self closing, self latching and the latching mechanism must be set at 1500mm or above, from the ground. Any alternative to “fencing” considered by a regulatory body, may be accepted by them as an “exemption” to the Act.
