What are Vitamins & Minerals?
Vitamins and minerals are nutrients found naturally in the foods. They are essential in helping people stay healthy. But many people don’t get all the vitamins and minerals they need from their food. There are a number of reasons for this. Not everyone eats the proper balance of foods in the right amounts. Some people are not able to absorb vitamins properly. Also, medications a person takes can affect the body’s use of vitamins. For many mature adults, lack of appetite, decreased sense of taste and smell, and denture problems can also contribute to not getting enough vitamins.
