What caused the Industrial Revolution in America?
The Industrial Revolution came about in America in the early nineteenth century. A man named Samual Slater was valuable in the expansion of the revolution to America. He worked in a factory in England and managed to come to America on a ship. With his photographic memory he was able to design and help create the first textile factory in Rhode Island in 1793. New factories were created after this. The new and improved modes of transportation helped to speed up industrialization in America. Basic canals and roads led to the development of steamboats and railroads. The railroads were the fastest and cheapest way to travel at the time, and were imperative in the transportation of goods and settlers to Western America. As the demand for transportation increased, more railways were developed. The increase of railways improved communication through America and caused the cost of travel to decrease. With all the new transportations coming about, industrialization spread easily through America.
