What did Abraham Lincoln do for the world other than ending slavery?
I believe you’ll find the answer in Lincoln’s own words — esp the three speeches listed below. Most famously in the Gettysburg Address, esp. when he declares that this nation was “conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal” followed by his characterization of the war as TESTING “whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated CAN LONG ENDURE.” At the end of the speech he challenges all to dedicate themselves to the successful conclusion of that test so that “government of the people, by the people, for the people shall NOT PERISH from the earth.”) Then there is his annual message to Congress on Dec 1, 1862 (Note that PART of what he is talking about here is the emancipation of slavery — “We of this Congress and this administration, will be remembered in spite of ourselves.
