What Does Plural Mean?
Plural is basically a grammatical term. It is used in the English language. Plural in simple words means giving a word to something that comprises of more than person or thing. For example, ‘man’ is singular, while ‘men’ is plural. In terms of non living things ‘paper’ is singular form, while ‘papers’ is plural form. In English language usually nouns, pronouns, and demonstratives inflect for plurality. In other languages such as German and the various Romance languages, articles and adjectives are generally considered to be plural. An example in the English language would be: “The brown cats run”, only the noun and verb are inflected; but in the French sentence Les chats bruns courent, every word (article, noun, adjective, and verb) is inflected.
