Coverage continues at your maximum coverage basic level plus your optional life level until you are 60. The maximum coverage if you are retired and age 60 is $25,000. No, children of SURS annuitants (retirees) are not eligible for tuition waivers for children of University employees. For a child to be eligible for the tuition waiver, the parent must be in active employment status of the University of Illinois on the first day of the academic term.
