What is a binding estimate?
A binding estimate or binding cost of service specifies in advance the precise cost of the move based on the services requested or deemed necessary at the time of the estimate. If additional services are requested or required at either origin or destination (such as a “shuttle” to or from a location to which a full-size van cannot operate directly or a “long carry” from the street to residence), the total cost will increase. Binding estimates are valid for the time period specified, up to 60 days. If you add items to be moved or require additional services, such as packing, between the time of the estimate and the time of your move, there will be additional charges. An addendum specifying these additional charges will be prepared for your signature. If you are interested in obtaining a binding estimate, please contact your moving consultant.
A binding estimate is a contract that specifies, in advance, the precise cost of the move based on the services requested or deemed necessary at the time of the estimate. If additional services are requested or required at either the origin or destination, the total cost will increase. Ask your professional estimator if unplanned events are charged COD to you. Binding estimates are only good 60 days from the date of the estimate. If there are any price increases you will not be charged the higher rate.

Binding estimates are valid for the time period specified, up to 60 days.
A binding estimate stipulates a fixed cost, agreed upon by both the mover and the consumer. Binding estimates (also known as a flat rate, a fixed rate, or a Not to Exceed Estimate) have been legal in New Jersey since September 1998. A binding estimate may be requested of a mover, but the movers is not legally obliged to offer one unlike an estimate, in a binding estimate. The mover may charge more than his tariff prices. This advantage is that he cannot charge you more than the total cost of the binding estimate, unless you ask him to perform additional moving or accessorial services not covered by the binding estimate.
