What is a combination drug?
A combination drug (fixed-dose combination) is a combination of two or more active drugs produced in a single tablet. Usually, these active drugs come from different classes of drugs, for example, the drug VICOPROFEN (Abbott) is indicated for a short-term management of acute pain. This drug is a fixed-dose combination of the opioid analgesic agent, hydrocodone bitartrate (7.5 mg) and the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent, ibuprofen (200 mg). Other combination drugs approved for human use can be found in the CDER Drug and Biological Approval Reports.
