What is a consignment sale?
An example of a consignment sale is when a manufacturer, producer, or importer physically transfers an article to a licensed dealer for sale to a customer. The licensed dealer will then sell the article to a customer on behalf of the manufacturer, producer, or importer. The manufacturer, producer, or importer retains ownership of the article until the licensed dealer actually sells it to a customer. [Refer to 27 CFR 53.
The consignment sale has the following elements: Consignor Registration, Item Drop-Off (or Take-In), Pre-Sales, Public Sale, Discount Day and Item Pick-Up. Consignors set their own prices and receive a portion from the sale of their items (70% with Fancy Pants). We think this is a fantastic way for moms (and dads too!) to make more money than you would at a yard sale by selling the mounds of baby and kid stuff we all acquire when we have children.
Carousel Children’s Consignment is a twice yearly sale. All of our consignors are families from the Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison & North Dallas area, who bring in their gently used children’s items and maternity wear for us to sell. We, in turn, plan and promote the event to the community, sell the consigned items and mail commission checks to consignors that include a payment for their total sales minus a 20-30% payment to Carousel and a $7 consignor fee.
