What is a good running shoe?
You need to get fitted in a running specialty store. A good shoe for you is determined by your individual arch, pronation, etc., and you need to try things on firsthand as well. Figure out in the store which shoes are best for you regardless of brand, price, etc. Save things like affordability for your very final stages. You may end up choosing your “second best” shoe because it’s so much more affordable, but at least you’ll know if your own “best” shoe goes on sale, goes cheap when discontinued, etc., that it’s the one you should grab later. And as far as sizing, running shoes tend to run 1/2 to 1 1/2 times larger than what you’d wear in a dress shoe, and it varies with individual models. You can’t really know until you try things on (with your running socks) which size you need in any given model.
