WHAT IS A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION?
A. Any injury, illness, sickness or medical condition of an Insured or Family Member which either manifests itself or exists during the 60, 90 or 180 days immediately preceding the day you buy Travel Insurance, unless the condition is controlled through the taking of prescription drugs or medication and remains controlled throughout the 60, 90 or 180 day period. A pre-existing condition has manifested itself when medical care, treatment or diagnosis has been given. Any adjustment of a prescription causes a pre-existing condition to be manifested, too.
If your pet has any medical condition, foreseeable condition, obvious symptoms, and injuries before you apply for insurance, it is called a pre-existing condition. Any injury or illness that happens during the waiting period (48 hours for accident coverage and 21 days for illness coverage) will also be considered a pre-existing condition.
A pre-existing condition is an injury or illness that was contracted, manifested or incurred on or before the effective date of your pet’s policy. For example, if at enrollment an applicant states, “I would like to enroll my four-year-old cat. He has a history of feline lower urinary tract disease.” The cat would be enrolled but the urinary tract disease would be pre-existing and therefore not covered under his policy.
