Measure the Diameter of a crankshaft Diameter is the distance of the center of a circle (see picture). It is very important that your new engine crankshaft’s diameter must be the same as your old engine’s in order to reuse all the pulleys and electric clutches. Example 1 (1″ diameter): If your old engine’s crankshaft diameter is 1″, you have to buy an engine that has a 1″ diameter crankshaft. Example 2 (1-1/8″ diameter): You have a 1-1/8″ diameter crankshaft engine, but you want to buy a 1″ diameter crankshaft engine. In this case you have to use some 1″ Inside Diameter x 1-1/8″ Outside Diameter sleeves to convert the 1″ diameter to 1-1/8″ diameter. We have these sleeves available.
