Galaxie, a commercial division of CBC, is a modern-day virtual business. It relies on cutting edge hi-tech equipment and a highly efficient barebones infrastructure that is based in Ottawa and Toronto. Galaxie’s programmers are based all over Canada, and plug into headquarters through electronic networks. Galaxie’s mission is to offer the Canadian public a vast selection of continuous music channels through as many distribution systems as possible. As well, Galaxie showcases the top Canadian talent alongside international artists. Galaxie is intended as a new source of revenue for CBC and functions as an independent service that is entirely reliant on subscription revenues.
