What is it like in the villages in Iganga district?
The Iganga district is a district of rolling hills and farmland near the source of the Nile, which provides electricity for Uganda and several other countries. However, there is no electricity in most of the villages in Iganga, or running water. Cooking is over a small coal stove, water must be boiled before drinking, showers are taken with a basin of water, and laundry must be scrubbed with soap and hung out to dry. If this doesn’t sound like your kind of thing, you probably shouldn’t apply. However, a visit to Uganda can change your life, and we hope that you will be inspired by what you see there the way we have been. There are so many people in need there, and the things they need are so basic. It’s very fulfilling to see the ripple effect of education and other community projects there.
