Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) started on February 20, 2009. Before this date, this program was being tested in Ontario. Some of the program requirements changed on February 20, 2009. In this program, the province of Ontario can select 1,000 applicants per year to nominate for permanent residence. There are 2 categories of nominees: • General (foreign workers) • International students To be eligible as an international student, you must graduate from an eligible Canadian college or university. You must also have a job offer from an Ontario employer. The job position must be a managerial, professional or skilled trade job (NOC O, A or B). The employer and job position must be pre-approved by the province of Ontario. The job offer does not have to be related to your field of study. For more information about Ontario’s PNP, visit the Ontario Immigration website and the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.
