What is product activation?
Product activation is an anonymous, secure, and hassle-free one-time process that authenticates licensed users during the installation process. Activation is not required for products acquired under a volume license agreement. The activation process verifies that the serial number is legitimate and has not been activated on more systems than allowed by the End User License Agreement (EULA). It does not affect the ability of licensed users to use their software as they always have. For more information about the Adobe product activation process and policies or review our expanded EULA, visit our Product Activation Center.

Product activation is the act of authenticating a product for entitled use. V8 XM Edition and V8i applications are equipped, by default, with three behavioral states – Pre-activated, Activated, and Deactivated. The Pre-activated period begins with installation and ends after 30 days or with Activation, which ever comes first. During the Evaluation period, most applications run in full-functioning mode, with no limitations applied to their activated state. An application is Activated when it is licensed, which is most commonly achieved by connecting to a valid SELECT Server. An application can return to Evaluation mode if its licensing server cannot be found. In this case, the Evaluation period begins again, providing a 30-day window during which to resolve any unintended disconnection. An application will reach its Deactivated state only when the Evaluation period has lapsed and the product has not been activated. In its Deactivated state, an application generally runs for a short peri
Product activation is a quick, anonymous, and secure process that verifies the authenticity of your Macrovision software. This is done to protect you from the adverse effects of pirated software. The process also verifies that the serial number has not been activated on more systems than allowed by your product’s End-User License Agreement (EULA). No personally identifiable information is required. After you first launch your product, you will be asked to activate. Simply follow a series of steps, and in seconds, your software will be activated and authenticated. The activation process does not hinder the software’s usability. You can use it the same way you always have.
Product activation is a software-based license management technology used by most Autodesk® products. It is a secure, easy process that allows users who have purchased legitimate software licenses to run the Autodesk software. The process verifies that the serial number is valid and that the software has been activated only on eligible computers. Product activation does not change the way the software works for licensed users. It is similar to activation mechanisms previously used in Autodesk products but improves security and license management.
