What is Silicon Dioxide in Food?
Silicon dioxide or silica as it’s commonly known is used in food (esp the powdered food and spices) as a anti-caking agent. For example, if silica is added to say, a seasoning mix, it would give it a coating that would prevent it from clumping, sticking and collecting moisture while being processed and then packaged.
