Always store any type of bread in a cool dry area. 1. Wrap dry, crusty breads in paper. The paper will allow the crust to remain hard and the bread can breathe. Breads wrapped in paper often become stale within a day. If more than a day of preserving is needed, you can wrap the bread in plastic wrap or a plastic bag and then place the bread in a very cold, dark place, such as a cool pantry or freezer.
