First, let me say that temperament is GENETIC. Nothing you can do will change it. It is not something you put in a dog by socialization or exposure, it happens when sperm meets egg, period. My definition of a “rock solid” dog is an animal that is mentally stable, 100% clear in the head, has drives that are “mostly” balanced, and I say mostly because I like some drives more then others. The dog has high stress thresholds, high social aggression, somewhat dominant, civil and non social. This what suits me as a dog, but, the first couple of points I mentioned should be part of EVERY-ONES dog temperament, by law even. Is it easy to to find a dog like that? Well, if you consider going through 100-150 candidates easy to find one suitable dog, sure…then again, I am really anal when it comes to selecting dogs for me and my needs as well as dogs I sell. Does that answer your question…hope I helped.
