The following are indicative definitions Relief: An intervention that saves lives and relieves human suffering. It focuses on the short-term and includes provisions to meet basic immediate needs such as health care, clean water, sanitation, shelter and psychological assistance (given the context of conflict in some of affected areas), and mine action. Recovery and rehabilitation: The restoration of local services related to immediate needs that can be re-established to acceptable levels within a reasonably short period of time.
