What is the difference between Western Medicine and Oriental Medicine?
Western Medicine treats diseases and conditions by focusing on the manifestation of the disease. Treatment is specific to diseases or abnormalities and their symptoms. Oriental Medicine takes a wholistic approach. Diagnosis takes into account patient symptoms, the appearance of the tongue and the quality of the pulse, as well as imbalances in the patient’s body and life, which may have led to the condition, are all considered. Treatment focuses on restoration of balance to the whole person. Oriental Medicine treats the root, or cause of the imbalance and the branch, or symptoms.
