What is the skin patch used to help the pain of PHN?
The skin patch, called Lidoderm, contains a 5% solution of lidocaine, the same medication used by dentists before painful procedures. Lidoderm is the first and only prescription treatment made specifically to ease the pain of PHN. (All the earlier treatments were made to treat other diseases.) Lidoderm is currently the only medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of PHN pain.
