What is verification?
Verification is a process used to confirm and verify the information you provided on the FAFSA application. The U.S. Department of Education selects some FAFSA applications for verification. The Student Financial Services may request verification information due to discrepancies submitted on FAFSA applications.
Verification is where the financial aid office has to verify what was reported on the FAFSA is accurate with what was reported on the tax forms. Every year 30 of FAFSA filers are randomly selected by the U.S. Department of Education for this process. The financial aid office will notify you if you have been selected and inform you of the items that will need to be returned. Dependent students must return: • Verification worksheet • Signed student tax forms and W-2 forms • Signed parent tax forms and W-2 forms Independent students must return: • Verification worksheet • Signed student tax forms and W-2 forms Verification must be completed for those selected before financial aid will be disbursed.
The Department of Education randomly selects FAFSA applications for a process called verification. Applications may also be chosen for verification if conflicting information is reported on the FAFSA. In these instances, a school must verify the data that a student reported on their FAFSA form. Students selected for verification must complete a verification worksheet provided by the school This worksheet must then be returned to the Financial Aid Office with a signed copy of their federal tax return, Non-Tax-Filing Form, and current W2s. If the student was required to file as a dependent student, the parents must also provide information for verification. Please do not complete the Verification Worksheet unless you have been instructed to do so.
Verification is a process by which the accuracy of the information on your FAFSA is confirmed by the Financial Aid Office. If your application is selected for verification, the Financial Aid Office will contact your for additional information, including copies of your federal tax return (and your parent’s if you are a dependent student). You will not be awarded any financial aid until all requested documents are completed and returned to the Financial Aid Office. In addition to the applicants selected by the Department of Education, the school is also required to verify applications that seem to have conflicting information.
Verification is simply the process of confirming ownership of shares, dematerializing share certificates and converting the share certificate from paper form to an electronic form for seamless transmission on the exchange. Investors may obtain shares in certificate form through a subscription to a public offer or as a bonus issue from a company in which they already have holdings. Either way the shares must be verified before they can be traded on the floor of the Exchange. Investors should ensure that all their physical certificates are verified and converted into an electronic form as soon as possible. The electronic shares are lodged in the investor’s CSCS investor account.
