What opportunity will there be for reviews of the new pay scheme?
NHS Professionals is convinced the new pay scheme is simpler, more transparent and fairer. The Clinical Coding Scheme and the opportunity it presents to rationalise our IT systems will also contribute to service improvements. It should be a “win-win” situation for partner trusts, temporary staff and therefore NHS Professionals itself. However, moving from a complex system of pay rates to a simplified one will not be easy. We also work within a dynamic market. Consequently we will have sufficient reviews, to enable us to “fine tune” the pay system to meet the needs of our stakeholders. There will therefore be a national review, 12 months from implementation, and prior to the introduction of the third pay point as the national minimum rate. This review will involve client Trusts, the Department of Health and staff side. There will then be a further review, at national level, 24 months after implementation.
